Hi I will write a story about a girl who did impossible things.
I am breaking it down into two parts because it is looooong! Don’t forget to read the second part soon!
Prologue, 1832
The ruler of Old Nanciland, King Nango II, found that a 4 year old girl named Rea, who lived in his kingdom, was doing brave things. In the olden times, society didn’t allow girls to do things they considered to be only for boys, and boys to do things they considered to be only for girls. Brave things meant boy things. You wouldn’t know where each thing you did was on which list, but once you’re doing it, they will let you know.
But all Rea wanted, since she was 3 was to become the King’s Knight of Honour. It was the most best award given to men who were really brave and their job was to protect the King.
I can’t accept it, the King said. I can’t let a girl do these brave things and then she will be seen as a person good enough to receive my Knight of Honour medal in the future.
The king continued with an angry voice: If little Rea thinks she can do these things I have forbidden for little girls to do for many years, then I shall challenge her to do the same mission I give to boys of age that will require her to complete three different tasks. I shall wait for her to turn 10 before she can begin, (because I am not so cruel that I shall allow her to do these impossible things at the tender age of four right now).
She is not to be told any of this until the time comes, and she must do them well, or else!
1838.
Rea was a girl with brownish yellow hair and blue eyes with fair skin and freckles.
Rea was an orphan. She lives in Old Nanciland’s Grand Orphanage.
It was there, in the garden, where she was practicing her fighting skills, hitting her bare hands onto a tree trunk when the caretaker found her.
Rea, King Nango II wants to see you, says the caretaker, Zana.
Zana the caretaker brought Rea to the palace. It is time. You are to complete these tasks I have set forth for you and do the impossible. You know what will happen to you if you fail, says the King as Rea walks through the palace door.
The King continued on, not letting Rea get even a single word in: Rea, I challenge you to eat a cobra snake and a black widow spider in under 3 minutes!
Rea nods to indicate that she accepts the challenge.
The King demands his guards to fetch the cages with a deadly spider and snake in them.
The guards, full of fear, took the spider and snake out of their cages and placed them onto Rea. The king orders the guards to set a 3 minute timer. Rea let the creatures rest on her shoulders. The snake purred. The spider held its stingers. Rea closed her eyes and popped the spider into her mouth. Then she held the cobra and in her hands and slid it into her mouth too. She did these so fast that the guards didn’t even have time to set this timer.
Rea has done it.
The king scoffs in disbelief as he shouts out the next challenge. Rea, you may have done well for this challenge, I underestimated your comfort with such deadly creatures but the next will be even more impossible! Your challenge shall be to stare at DEATH for 5 minutes.
The king asked the guards to bring DEATH into the palace. Rea kept thinking to herself, how can he bring in DEATH?
DEATH stormed in with a cloud of smoke coming from beneath his arms. “Death” was really just an old man wearing a black cloak, and nothing else, with what looked like red paint splashes all over his body.
I am DEATH! said “ Death” in a very low pitch voice.
Rea was confused, what was the king’s plan? She thought, Is he trying to scare me?
The king set his timer for 5 minutes.
He was clearly expecting Rea to scream and run, showing her defeat, with her arms flailing.
But Rea didn’t do all that. All she did was stare DEATH in his old, wrinkly face, bored.
DEATH didn’t do anything either. Rea knew something was not right. Suddenly, Death farted, a big loud PFFFT! that sounded like a horse neighing and it let out the most horrible smell just like the smell of buffalo poop. The timer went off, and Rea winced.
Hang on! This can’t be Death! He’s just an old man with an uncontrollable shouting bum! You tried to trick me! Rea shouted at the King.
The King sent Rea home, embarrassed at his failed mission.
